Best Car Insurance Rates For 2014 “Top Safety Pick”

Subaru’s 2014 ForesterPost Date July 10, 2013 – Subaru’s 2014 Forester topped the Insurance Institute For Highway Safety (IIHS) crash tests, scoring “good” in all of its tests to make itself dubbed as the safest SUV model and also topping the “Top Safety Pick+”. Along with the “Top Safety Pick” reward, the institute is also providing for better or best car insurance rates.  The Subaru SUV was the only vehicle that netted “good” score on the Small-Overlap tap, a test that recreates a collision between the SUV’s front-end and an object.

Next to the Subaru that had the second highest score is the 2013 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport.  This vehicle scored “good” in all of the tests except for the Small-Overlap and only managed to have an “acceptable” score. The Outlander was also placed on the Top Safety Pick+. Of the SUVs tested, only the Subaru Forester and the Mitsubishi Outlander got the great scores while others SUV’s only had a rating of “marginal” or “poor.” Nine of 13 vehicles also managed to get into the “Top Safety Pick”.  This is a distinction which is a tier below from the Top Safety Pick+.  The 2013 Buick Encore, BMW XI, Ford Escape, Hyundai Tucson, Honda CRV, Kia Sportage, 2014 Jeep Patriot, Mazda CX-5, and the Volkswagen Tiguan also scored well. The models were able to score the highest “good” rating on the IIHS’ moderate-overlap, rollover, side, and rear crash tests. The crash tests results are believed to predict less costly claims for personal injury insurance protection and medical payments. It is not yet known if the said study will directly affect the said vehicle models’ best car insurance rates as these are being determined solely by the insurance company based on their best car insurance rates data. Vehicles that will show in long-term lower amount of claims tend to have the best car insurance rates compared to those vehicle models that have a record of huge claims.
