The information as released from the US Attorney for the District of New Jersey said that Watney pleaded guilty to one count of money laundering before District Judge Peter Sheridan on June 29.

Warney was accused that on May 12, 2011, he accepted a $5,000 check in behalf of Bencivengo from an insurance agent who later turned to be a cooperating witness in the cased filed against him. On June 21, 2012, Bencivengo was indicted by a federal grand jury to the alleged bribery that amounts to $12,400. The mayor is accused of soliciting and accepting a bribe for helping an insurance company maintain its position as the health insurance broker for Hamilton’s school district.
