Found to have racially discriminated one of its former employee, a construction company in Mount Laurel, New Jersey was ordered recently to pay the man an amount nearly $179,000, said the New Jersey Division of Civil Rights.

The employee identified as Carl Carpenter of Philadelphia will be receiving the amount from CMB Constructions Services after the order was handed down by the state Division of Civil Rights.

Said supervisor had also been reported to have told Carpenter to remove ‘the brown color from his face’.

Carpenter was fired by CMB Construction Services a few weeks after he complained, saying that he grouted a wall incorrectly. However, Carpenter’s evaluation described his work to be above average.
