Post Date November 29, 2013 chiropractor in New Jersey had recently pleaded guilty to participating in defrauding New Jersey auto insurance companies by submitting false documentation.

“The Doctor would be forced to pay back the amount he stole from the New Jersey auto insurance companies”

The New Jersey Attorney General’s Office reported that chiropractor, Dr. Joseph Salomone, a resident of Nutley, was able to defraud nearly $90,000 from New Jersey auto insurance Companies.  The chiropractor pleaded guilty in Superior Court to second-degree health claims fraud. The authorities said that the Doctor and his staff submitted fake claim documentation to a number of New Jersey insurance companies.  They would file claims with number of insurance companies for the same accident victim. The New Jersey auto insurance companies which Salomone billed were , Allstate, United States Automobile Association, Liberty Mutual Insurance Company,New Jersey Manufacturer’s Insurance Company, High Point Insurance Company .

After pleading guilty, Salomone told the court that he  had his staff complete periodic evaluation forms which contained the results from a number of motion tests of car accident victims. These forms assessed by chiropractors to evaluate whether patients need to continue chiropractic care. The Prosecutor later found the patient’s medical record did not reflect whether they need to continue treatment with Salomone or seek treatment with another Doctor.

Acting Attorney General John J. Hoffman said that by Salomone’s criminal actions, he was able to cheat nearly $90,000 from New Jersey auto insurance companies.  He was able to do this by a number of patients for unnecessary treatments.

By admitting he was guilty of insurance fraud, officials in the state of New Jersey has recommended the chiropractor be sentenced to four years imprisonment.  In addtion; The Doctor would be forced to pay back the amount he stole from the New Jersey auto insurance companies.

Salomone’s case is an example wherein health care providers use their patients without their knowledge to defraud New Jersey auto insurance companies out of millions of dollars. The Attorney General announced that they will continue to aggressively go after corrupt Doctors.
