North Bergen Driver Faces Assault Charges Over Passengers Ejection on Crash

Accused for two counts of assault by auto, a North Bergen man made his first appearance on court on July 13, 2012, to face the charges that stemmed out from a vehicular crash in Kennedy Boulevard, North Bergen, New Jersey.

The accused, Jose Idrovo, 20, appeared before the Central Judicial Processing Court in Jersey City through video link from the Hudson County Jail.
Idrovo is being held as the person responsible for a crash that transpired at around 1:27 a.m. on May 30 this year. According to a report from the Hudson County Sherriff’s Department, Idrovo was driving his Nissan Altima with five passengers onboard when the said vehicle suddenly went out of control north of 85th Street and then slammed into four parked vehicles.

The crash ejected a 22-year old passenger who slammed into a parked car and landed 69 feet across the pavement. That passenger suffered head trauma and abrasions. Another passenger was also ejected that landed 30 feet across the pavement incurring serious but non-life threatening injuries. The said report further said that not one of the ejected passengers had a seat belt on.

After the crash, the driver told investigators that he was going only 30 mph when another vehicle struck his.

At his court appearance, Idrovo was told that his bail was set at $25,000 with 10 percent option.
