Facing a slew of charges after his 2012 Audi A5 went over the guard rail on Route 46 and ended facing the wrong side of the road, a Parsipanny man claims he was not driving his vehicle that time.

The incident transpired early morning on July 15, 2012.

The man identified as Venkatesh Mannava, 30, is being charged with driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, failure to stop, hindering apprehension, failure to exhibit driver’s license and registration, failure to wear a seat belt, and refusal to submit to breath tests.

According to Parsippany police, Mannava’s vehicle exited Columbus Way at a very high rate of speed. The report said that Mannava suddenly lost control and struck the center median curb, then the guide rail before going over the top of the guide rail.

Mannava’s vehicle came to rest facing the east direction on Route 46 westbound lanes, the police said.

Mannava strongly denied that he was driving the vehicle, the police report further said.
